Hola,

Saludos!

Mario

Today is a major milestone for Asteroid Day and citizens of the world!

The United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) has proclaimed that International Asteroid Day will be observed globally on 30 June every year. The resolution reads as follows:

The United Nations "declares 30 June International Asteroid Day to observe each year at the international level the anniversary of the Tunguska impact over Siberia, Russia, on 30 June 1908 and to raise public awareness about the asteroid impact hazard."
Early in 2016, the ASE Committee on Near-Earth Objects introduced a formal recommendation in Vienna with the UN Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (COPUOS) that the General Assembly adopt Asteroid Day as an annual global event. You can read the UN Press release, here.

Please celebrate this moment with us and spread the word. Feel free to share our official statement:
Statement by the Asteroid Day co-founders:

“The United Nations General Assembly proclaims June 30 as International Asteroid Day. We founded the annual event to raise awareness of the asteroid threat and opportunity to unite the human species behind a simple goal: Protect our planet from asteroid impacts. It is the only natural disaster we know how to prevent if we work together towards a global solution. We are all crew of Spaceship Earth.”
